Truth or False about Hair ... Part 2 of 2

5. Will wearing a ponytail in the same area give you a bald spot?

TRUE "The effect is called traction alopecia. The constant tugging by a tight band can scar hair follicles and cause them to stop growing new hair," said Doris Day a dermatologist in N.Y.C. She also told an InStyle editor that "She would suggest switching pony positions daily to alleviate tension. Tie back hair with a soft elastic band and wrap the ponytail as loosely as poosible."

FYI: It's not just ponytails that cause this... it is also other hair products like

❤headbands

❤braids

and

❤barrettes

when repeatedly worn in the same spot.

6.Does brushing your hair often make it healthier?

Brushing your hair 100 times before bed won't make your hair look any better. In fact, it might make your hair look worse. "Over-brushing can dull hair by destroying the cuticle, as well as causing split ends and breakage," explains Desai to InStyle.FALSE

❤And using the wrong tool could furthur harm your hair.

❤In general, plastic and metal bristles can weaken the hair cuticle and cause damage or static flyaways.

❤Natural boar bristle hairbrushes are ideal to maintain your hair.

7. Does hair get immune to shampoo?

FALSE Shampoo will always do it's job:clean.

❤So why does it seem like your favorite bottle of shampoo stops working? It contains ingredients that condition and provide styling benefits, but it can leave residue that builds up.

❤When this happens .. Try switching to a Clairifying shampoo!

8. Can coloring your hair change it's texture?

TRUE Temporarily, of course- but sometimes for the better. Permanent color removes the protective layer on your hair and lifts the cuticles so dyes are able to penetrate, Desai also explains to InStyle.. "Color can swell the hair shaft and give it body."

FYI: The change is especially noticeable on women with fine or thinning hair, as well as those with gray roots!

Truth or False about Hair ... Part 1 of 2

Eight questions about your hair that maybe Fact or Fiction. Let's find out!

1. Frequent Trims make your hair grow faster?

Michael Wright, the senior research scientist at Nexxus Salon Hair Care told Instyle "Hair grows from the roots, not the tips." So the answer would be False.

"A trim removes split ends to prevent them from moving up the hair shaft, saving you from having to cut more to eliminate the damage. Keep your hair healthy in the first place with conditioning treatments and sun/heat protectors" is what Saurabh Desai, the principal scientist at Aveeno Nourish+ said to InStyle.

2. Massaging your scalp stimulates hair growth?

Desai told InStyle "Scalp massage can increase blood circulation, decrease stress and help distribute the scalp's natural oils onto the hair. All of this may lead to better functioning of the cells that are creating hair follicles, so your hair grows at it's optimal rate- however, that rate will not increase." On average, hair grows a half inch every month. The answer is False.

3.Can Chemical Straighteners change your texture permanently?

False Celebrity hairstylist Serge Normant at N.Y.C.'s John Freda Salon told InStyle "As hair grows, your natural texture returns. After a straightening treatment, the visible hair will be permanently altered, but the chemical process can't penetrate your roots".

"Likewise, daily blowout devotees might think they've unkinked their curls for good because hair starts to seem straighter over time, but what they're actually seeing is damaged hair that has lost texture, not a permanent change". Normant explained to InStyle.

4. Does A Cold Rinse Adds Shine and Tames Frizz?

Desai told an Instyle editor, " A blast of cold water at the and of your shower can make hair appear shinier because it temporarily helps the cuticle flatten down onto the hair shaft". True

"But the result might not last if you don't properly dry your hair. Make sure the cuticle remains flat by applying a deep conditioner or silicone-based product to seal it". Desai explained to InStyle.

Planning a Trip soon?

We want to help you get ready for your vacation. So, here are some tricks to help you pack effectively.

First, let's look at your bag you will be packing.

⇨Hardware

Zippers, Handles and pulls (ideally) should lie close or retract to the suitcase's surface to avoid getting snagged in transit.

⇨Fabric

Talk to your local luggage dealer "salesperson" for luggage that will resist abrasion, rips and tears, like coated canvas it has a tight weave exterior.

⇨Wheels

You want rubber wheels compared to hard plastic.Rubber wheels absorbs shock and rolls smoothly on most surfaces. Hard plastic is less durable and noisy.

Alright Ladies! Let's tackle the 3 common problems we have when packing our suitcase.

1. Over packing

I am so guilty of this. What you should do is lay out every outfit you plan to take two days prior to traveling, then revisit the day before to ruthlessly edit down choices. Take digit snap shots to help remove the guess work.

2. Wrinkles

Fold items and slip inside plastic dry-cleaning bags or separate with tissue paper to cut down on the crease-causing friction.

3. Jewelry

Avoid tangles and dings with a soft, compact jewelry case or keep separate with tiny jewelry bags ( you can get them at Micheal's). But do NOT check it - keep it safe in your carry on.

Helpful Hint:

Roll up and pack an empty zippered cloth bag. Use it to stow dirty clothes, or better yet, to hold the can't-pass-up items you grab along the way.

I hope this helps you get your luggage in order and ready to head out on your trip. If this does help, Please reposed on Face book or twitter. Thanks!

How to buy good Vitamins.

You should be very careful and cautious of what you put in your body.

I wanted to come up with some a guide to help with buying good Vitamins. So here is what I came up with...

1.Where to buy them...

You should go to a Health Food Store. Do not go to any Major Deparment store/ Pharmacy. The reason is because a Stores like that their products are NOT REALLY natural. You have to be very careful how they word the labeling. A Health Food Store has everything Natural and Organic.

2. Reading Labels...

If you cannot pronounce the ingredients you DON'T need to put in your body. It's That simple. Reading labels is VERY Important.

3. Price...

Health Food Stores have different brands of each product. So, they have different prices, even one to fit your budget!Have you ever heard of "You get what you pay for."? This is one of them times!

4. Talk...

Talk to the Owner/Manager of the store about the different brands (most of the time they will send you to the most expensive brand, so use your own judgement in the end). But they will give you insight on what the difference is and why one is better than the other.

Go to different Health Food Stores and talk to different employees about the Vitamins you are interested in. They will all have something different to say about them.. even if they are the same product. The more vitamins you buy the more you will learn about your body and what you do and don't want in it.

Let's Review:

Shop at Health Food Store's

Read all the Labels.. No pronounce, No buy

Get vitamins in your budget, so you can continue to take them.

Go to different stores and learn as much as possible.

Well I hope this helps. If it does, Please pass it along to your friends!
